Direct Flights to Armenia Coming From Varna in 2027

Wizz Air will launch a new direct route between Varna and Yerevan in summer 2027, giving travelers from Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast a new connection to Armenia. The airline, which has the largest market share in Bulgaria, announced the route on September 8, with flights scheduled twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The service will begin on June 6, 2027. Tickets are already available through Wizz Air’s website and mobile application, with one-way fares starting at €29.99, including the administrative fee and small cabin baggage. Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, sits at the foot of Mount Ararat and is regarded as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. The city is known for its historic heritage and architecture, combining ancient landmarks with a modern urban character. Key attractions include Republic Square, the Cascade, which offers views across the city toward Ararat, and the ancient Erebuni complex, associated with the origins of the Armenian capital. The new route also offers travelers an opportunity to explore destinations beyond Yerevan. Armenia is known for its mountain landscapes, ancient monasteries and distinctive culinary and wine traditions. Visitors can travel to Lake Sevan, see the medieval monasteries of Geghard and Khor Virap, and experience traditional Armenian cuisine and the country’s renowned hospitality. Wizz Air said the new service will strengthen travel links between Bulgaria’s Black Sea region and the Caucasus while providing passengers with a convenient route to Armenia. The airline also expects the connection to support tourism and increase business exchanges between Bulgaria and Armenia. “We are delighted to add Yerevan to our network from Varna and offer passengers from the Bulgarian seaside capital another unique destination,” said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air. He described the route as an affordable and convenient way to discover Armenia’s history, culture and natural landscapes, while strengthening connectivity between the two regions. “The new route underlines our long-term commitment to Varna and the development of the connectivity of the Black Sea region,” Imperiale said, adding that the service could contribute to both tourism and economic ties between Bulgaria and Armenia. “Let’s WIZZ, Varna!” The Yerevan service will add to Wizz Air’s expanding network from Varna Airport. The airline operates 25 routes from Varna to 15 countries and holds a 51% market share at the airport. Its Bulgarian operations include 11 Airbus A321neo aircraft, three of which are based in Varna. During summer 2026, Wizz Air operates 46 flights a week from Varna. The carrier has transported more than 6 million passengers to and from the seaside city since beginning operations there. It also added a direct Varna-Basel route, with service beginning October 27. The airline's wider fleet consists of 273 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Wizz Air carried 68.6 million passengers in 2025 and also offers vacation packages through WIZZ Holidays, combining flights with accommodation and other travel services. Wizz Air is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker WIZZ. Airlineratings.com named it among the world's ten safest airlines, while the company has also received the Air Transport Awards’ Airline of the Year title in 2019 and 2023. Wizz Air was recognized as the Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline by the World Finance Sustainability Awards from 2021 through 2025. In 2026, it ranked second in Cirium’s global airline emissions ranking for its efforts to reduce emissions intensity. The Varna-Yerevan route will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, with introductory fares from €29.99. The advertised fare includes a small cabin bag measuring no more than 40x30x20 centimeters. Wheeled luggage and checked baggage cost extra, while seats at the promotional fare are limited.
