Night Train Returns: Direct Summer Link Between Sofia and Varna Expanded

A new night train service will operate during the summer season on the Sofia-Karlovo-Kazanlak-Sliven-Varna route and in the opposite direction, offering additional travel options between the capital and the Black Sea coast via the Sub-Balkan railway line. The service will include both seating and sleeping cars, with a direct sleeper connection also available to and from Dobrich, expanding access for passengers traveling beyond Varna. From April 30, fast train No. 3637 will depart Sofia Central Station at 23:30 and arrive in Varna at 07:25 the following morning. The direct sleeping car bound for Dobrich will continue from Varna, reaching its final stop at 08:41. At Povelyanovo station, it will be attached to fast train No. 2637 operating from Varna to Dobrich. In the return direction, fast train No. 3636 from Varna to Sofia will begin operations on May 1. It is scheduled to leave Varna at 21:40 and reach Sofia Central Station at 06:07. The Dobrich sleeper service will depart earlier at 20:35, integrated into fast train No. 2636 from Dobrich to Varna before continuing its journey. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets at station counters, railway ticket offices, or through the online booking system. A round-trip purchase allows discounts ranging from 10% to 20%, depending on available commercial offers. Travel information, including schedules, is accessible via the official railway website, station information desks, and a national telephone inquiry line. “The composition will consist of sitting and sleeping cars, and a direct sleeping car to and from Dobrich station will also be included,” the operator noted in its announcement.
